Data centers can strain water resources and power demand, raise infrastructure and noise concerns, and pose potential environmental impacts. Should the Town of Williston and its residents be preparing for this fast-moving infrastructure both here and nationwide? Are we already preparing? At this event, we will discuss the many aspects of data centers with a panel of speakers engaged in this issue, and welcome questions and comments from community members.

Panelists:

  • Rep. Laura Sibilia (Windham-2) - VT State House of Representatives, lead sponsor of H.727, the Vermont Sustainable Data Centers Act, which was vetoed by Governor Scott this summer after being passed by the State House.
  • Rep. Angela Arsenault (Chittenden-2) - VT State House of Representatives, representing Williston since 2023. Voted in favor of H.727.
  • Matt Boulanger - Planning Director and Zoning Administrator, Town of Williston
  • Kevin Thorley - Senior Director Product and Engineering, Cox Automotive EV Battery Solutions and Member, Williston Energy Committee
  • Michael Lazorchak - Manager, Regulatory & Market Affairs, Energy New England and Member, Williston Energy Committee
